Lunch & Learn after service on Sunday September 24!

Newer to Parkside Heights or just want to find out more about the church? Then join us this Sunday, September 24, after our 10am morning service for a free lunch and a chance to learn about the history and priorities of the church and ask any questions you might have.

We'll meet after the service in the teacher's lounge, which you can find by turning right as you exit the auditorium's back doors, and going to the end of the hall.

Anyone is welcome! If you are planning on attending, please register by Wednesday, September 20 so we can make sure we have enough food.

Hope you can join us!

Mentoring students at John Hay

As the video above discusses, we've recently been presented with an opportunity to mentor students at John Hay. We're excited about this program, as it is another way for us to bless the school while we are meeting in their auditorium. The mentoring program involves matching volunteers from Parkside Heights with students from the School of Architecture & Design at John Hay.  The idea is that the volunteers would be something of a big brother or big sister to the students, helping them along the way.

No experience is necessary to be a mentor: just a desire to love and care for students.  We will be partnering with the Adopt-a-School Network of Northeast Ohio program to train all of our volunteers before we start meeting with the students.

Volunteer mentors would be asked to do the following:

  • Commit to participating in the program for the academic year (October - May)

  • Communicate with the partner student 1x / week electronically, either sending them a text or email

  • Join all mentors and mentees in the program for a 1x / month meal at John Hay.  The meal is scheduled to take place the first Thursday of every month from 1:30pm - 3:00pm.

We hope to officially launch this program in the coming weeks and would love to have you be a part of it.  Even if you can't volunteer, please pray for it!

If you have any questions or would like to sign up to participate, please email Kyra Rothenberg, who has graciously agreed to coordinate all of our volunteers.

Can you help?

Looking for your place to serve at Parkside Heights? We are looking for a few people to help us in a couple of different areas.  We are looking for at least one person to join our set-up team, particularly someone who would be willing to help us set up our signs outside the building on Sundays. We are also looking for a few more volunteers in the preschool class of our Kids' ministry. In both of these roles, you wouldn't be serving every week, but on some kind of rotation.

Can you help in these ways? Or are you interested in serving the church in a different way on one of our other service teams? You can explore different ways to serve and sign up for a team at parksideheights.org/serve or by clicking the button below.
