Introducing Heights Students!

We're excited to announce the start of a new ministry at our church: Heights Students. This is a ministry for middle school and high school students, with the goal of helping our students and their families move forward as followers of Christ. The middle school and high school years can often be challenging, and our hope is to come alongside parents as they seek to disciple their kids through these years. The ministry will be led by Peter Lindia and a team of volunteers who are interested in investing in the lives of those younger than them. The group will get together regularly on Sunday nights in homes in and around the Heights.

Interested in learning more? We'll be having a parent meeting after service this Sunday, August 14, to share more about why we are launching this ministry and what it will look like. We'll meet in the back of the auditorium. Then, on Sunday, August 21 at 6:30pm, we'll be having our kickoff cookout for students, giving them a chance to get to know each other. You can see the rest of the schedule by looking at our church calendar.

If you'd like to receive updates about this ministry, please sign up for the Heights Students group or click the button below. If you have questions, feel free to email Peter.

Community Groups Start Again

After a break for the summer, our Community Groups are re-starting this month! These groups are the engine of community life at Parkside Heights, a place where you can gather with a smaller collection of people at the church to study the Bible, pray, share life together, and engage in mission to our neighbors. We believe these groups are key to really going beneath the surface at our church. Each group will be having a kick-off meeting at the end of August, and then will meet the first 3 weeks of subsequent months in local homes around the area. Here are where our groups are:

  • 2 in Cleveland Heights

  • 1 in Little Italy

  • 1 in Mayfield Heights (new!)

  • 1 in Shaker Heights

  • 1 in University Heights/Beachwood

Help Wanted

It takes a lot of volunteers to help make services happen on Sunday mornings at John Hay. A set-up team arrives early to move our materials out of storage into the proper places, a welcome team seeks to make sure that everyone who comes in the door feels at home, an A/V team connects our sound system and advances slides during worship, a music team leads us in song, a children's ministry team teaches our youngest about Jesus, and a hospitality team helps to prepare meals for special events.

As we think about the Fall, we'd like to continue to build these teams, enabling us to spread out the labor and not overwork anyone. As you think about your involvement at Parkside Heights, would you consider joining a service team this Fall and chipping in? You can learn more about our teams at parksideheights.org/service or by clicking on the button below. If you have questions about them, don't hesitate to contact us.
