In Genesis 12, faithfulness and fearfulness are the alternating expressions of Abram's life. This back and forth of faith and fear is the common pinch-point-of-life that we share with him. Even so, this passage isn't ultimately about Abram's faith that we're to try and pattern. It's about the grace and keeping power of God, as we see how patient he is with Abram's faults and fears.
